Powerful, Super-quick New LG Handset Recognized by Guinness World Records™ as World’s First Dual-Core Smartphone

LG Optimus 2X smartphone has been confirmed by Guinness World Records™ as the world’s First Mobile Phone to Use a Dual-core Processor. This technological leap gives the LG Optimus 2X a faster, more powerful performance, and robust multimedia entertainment features.

“LG is thrilled to hear that the LG Optimus 2X is officially recognized as the world’s first dual-core smartphone by the prestigious Guinness World Records,” said Mr. Somsak Athisaitrakul, Product Group Head of Mobile Communications, LG Electronics (Thailand). “The LG Optimus 2X is ushering in a new ‘dual-core’ era in the smartphone arena, with unprecedented levels of speed and performance. Combined with other unique features such as content mirroring through HDMI, the LG Optimus 2X is well positioned as a true premium Android smartphone.”

Frank Foley, Senior Vice President of Guinness World Records™, said, “Guinness World Records is proud to announce this new title and congratulates LG Optimus 2X on this achievement in the always fast-paced world of technology.”

LG first announced the LG Optimus 2X in December 2010, and unveiled it for the first time at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas in January of this year. The phone was launched in the same month in Korea, beating any of its rivals to the market, and has since been launched in other key markets as well.

LG Optimus 2X: Fast and Powerful Dual-Core Smartphone Experience
Developed by graphics processor powerhouse NVIDIA®, the dual-core Tegra 2 system-on-a-chip found in the LG Optimus 2X runs at a clock speed of 1GHz and boasts low power consumption and high performance for playing video and audio. Users can experience faster web browsing and smoother gameplay compared with single-core processors running at the same speed, as well as instantaneous touch response and seamless multitasking between applications.

Enabling 1080p HD video playback and recording, the LG Optimus 2X also offers a PC-like full browsing experience with HD or Flash content. The device is optimized for easy connection and sharing: content mirroring through HDMI can expand the display through micro HDMI to a full HD display, while DLNA (Digital Living Network Alliance) enables simple wireless content sharing among the LG Optimus 2X and other digital devices.

Using the content mirroring through HDMI interface with the Gyro sensor, consumers can also play games from the phone directly on a Full HD TV for a more vibrant gaming experience.

The LG Optimus 2X allows for a console-like ultimate gaming experience thanks to its vivid graphics. The phone also packs a front-facing camera, microSD memory expandability, microUSB connectivity, and a 1500mAh battery.
